SOCIAL SUPPORT

Four programs comprise our Social Intervention & Prevention Services Division:

ELDERCARE SERVICES - provides an array of services to caregivers and their aging loved ones. Our services include Caregiver Respite, a lending library (videos and books), confidential support groups, caregiver training, information and referral on services available locally and services available for long-distance caregiving.

HOME VISITING PROGRAMS - are designed to promote optimal long term physical and mental health of children and their parents.  Services are offered at no cost, are voluntary, identify parent strengths and are well received by families in the community.  The prenatal through preschool-age program is Early Advantages, a Healthy Families NY program funded in part by the Office of Child & Family Services administered locally through the Clinton County Youth Bureau.  The Parent Aide Program works with high-risk families of youth who are twelve and under, and is funded in part through Clinton County Department of Social Services. Our Fathers 4 Families Program coaches fathers to be the best they can be in raising their young family.

STOP DOMESTIC VIOLENCE - is a NYS certified program assisting victims of domestic violence, 24 hours a day. Services include: a 24-hour hotline; crisis intervention; individual and group supportive counseling; temporary childcare during office visits; advocacy with law enforcement, medical services, local departments of Social Services, etc.; and information and referrals to other local, state and nationwide domestic violence services.

VIOLENCE INTERVENTION PROJECT (VIP) - is a 33-week educational program designed to teach non-controlling, non-abusive behavior to adult men for the safety and justice of women. Each participant completes an individual intake/assessment and a group orientation prior to attending the 33 two-hour weekly group sessions. The group is based on the Duluth model and has an open enrollment with a 3-week cycle.
