Our Method...
Helping you, the caregiver, with
training, support and information.
Eligibility
Anyone, or their caregiver, who is 60 years of age
or older with one or more functional deficits
in ADLs or IADLs.
The Caregiver Resource Center and Respite Program
services are funded through a cooperative effort by the Clinton
County Office for the Aging and the New York State Office for the
Aging.
Caregiver Support Group
Sometimes it
helps to talk with someone who really understands
Confidential, informative support groups help you gain new ideas
and understanding. All support group meetings are open to anyone
providing care to a friend or family member.
Meetings are held:
Second Thursday of each
month from 11:30am to 1pm at the United Way Building, 45 Tom Miller
Road in Plattsburgh.
No appointment is necessary to attend these meetings.

If you would like to learn about a specific topic, please call us
to see if it can be arranged. Caregivers are invited to attend at no
charge; other attendees pay a fee. Call the Caregiver Resource
Center at 518-565-4625 for upcoming classes and presentations.
Caregiver Respite
Everyone needs an interval of relief or rest, a break from routine.
The Respite program provides trained staff and volunteers who can
spend two to four hours with your loved ones, giving you time to take
a break to rest and rejuvenate. It is important for you to care for
yourself, to maintain your mental and emotional strength to care for
others.

Often people do not know where to obtain information. The Caregiver
Resource Center is a one-stop source of information about:

Home Health Care
Housing
Transportation
Recreation &
Leisure
Fitness
Please call with any questions. We will help you find and arrange
services whenever possible including information, for long distance
caregivers, about services in other areas of the country.
Lending Library
The Center
maintains a large number of books, videos and periodicals on subjects
pertaining to caregiving and aging. A current list
is available by contacting the Caregiver Resource Center at
