Clinton County Suicide Hotline Now Available With 28 suicides between 2002 and 2004 in Clinton County, our region has the ninth highest completed suicide rate in New York State. The Clinton County Community Services Board and the Health Department through MAPP (Mobilization for Action and Prevention Planning) have identified suicide as a public health problem. With a grant through State Senator Betty Little, county funding and a grant from the CVPH Foundation, the line is operated under the auspices of BHSN. Community Education Opportunities Educational sessions noting the Myths of Suicide along with the Facts of Suicide are available for presentation in your school, business, organization by clicking here. You will be able to hear about the startling national statistics over the 20th century and see the most recent North Country statistics. Risk Factors as well as Protective Factors are addressed with presentations focusing on adolescents and young adults (10-24 years old) to Suicide Across the LifeSpan. The Advocacy program of BHSN partners with NAMI:CV in these presentations which are anywhere from an hour to three hours in length, depending on your needs. |
