Our Core Values

At the foundation of our organization stand two core values—Integrity and Connection. These values define not only how we operate but who we aspire to be.

We lead with Integrity, choosing honesty, transparency, and accountability in every action. Integrity ensures that our decisions align with our mission and that we remain steadfast in doing what is right for
the people we serve, our staff, and our communities. It is through integrity that trust is built, credibility is sustained, and excellence can flourish.

We thrive through Connection, believing that relationships are the cornerstone of healing and growth. Connection means valuing every individual’s voice and experience, fostering belonging within our teams and with those we serve, and ensuring that compassion and empathy guide our work.

From these values, we draw the strength to achieve Excellence, Innovation, and Purpose.

Excellence

Continually striving to deliver the highest quality of care and service.

Innovation

Embracing new ideas and technologies that enhance lives and improve outcomes.

Purpose

Aligning our daily work with the deeper mission to bring hope, healing, and possibility to every person and community we touch.

Together, Integrity and Connection sustain our commitment to Excellence, Innovation, and Purpose, creating a culture where people feel valued, supported, and inspired to make a difference.

Our Story

Founded in 1874 by Margaret Platt, our organization began as a home for orphans and abandoned children—providing safety, care, and hope to the most vulnerable in our community. Over the decades, the home grew and evolved into the Northern New York Center, expanding services in response to the needs of the region. Over time, that growth gave rise to Behavioral Health Services North, Inc. (BHSN).

BHSN has emerged as a leader in behavioral health services, bringing treatment, rehabilitation and support to individuals and families in our community. Located along the shores of Lake Champlain and in Queensbury, NY, BHSN provides care and connection across the North Country and Capital Region. Throughout this growth, our talented and professional team remains committed to our roots: delivering compassionate, community-centered care.
