ABOUT BHSN

  • BHSN (Behavioral Health Services North) is a leading provider of behavioral health, addiction recovery, and social services in the North Country. We are dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care to individuals, families, and communities.

  • Our vision is to be the behavioral health provider of choice—recognized nationally for clinical excellence, person centered care delivery, and compassionate service—where the people we serve, their families, and our employees alike find safety, belonging, and purpose.

  • BHSN has been serving the North Country for over 150 years, with a rich history of supporting communities it serves. 

  • A CCBHC is a special designation for clinics that provide a full range of mental health and substance user services, regardless of a person’s ability to pay. BHSN is proud to be a CCBHC designee.

  • We have a total of five: We have Centers for Wellbeing in Morrisonville and Queensbury, NY and Centers for Recovery in Morrisonville, Hudson Falls, and Queensbury.

  • We offer a fully integrated care model that combines mental health, addiction recovery, and support services to address the whole person. Our approach is person-centered and focuses on a continuum of care.

General
  • We offer a wide range of services spanning Counseling and Wellness, Addiction, Child and Family, Community Services and Support, and Residential.

  • Yes, we provide services for individuals of all ages, including children, young adults, families, and adults. 

Mental Health Services
  • Our mental health services include individual, couple, family, and group counseling, psychiatric services, medication management, and specialized programs like PROS (Personalized Recovery Oriented Services).

  • Yes, our School-Based Services provide on-site mental health services to students and families directly within the school setting.

  • PROS is a comprehensive program that integrates rehabilitation, treatment, and support services to help people with mental illness achieve their goals related to work, school, relationships, and stable housing.

  • Our outpatient services are flexible and client driven. They include individual, family, and group therapy sessions, as well as psychiatric and medication management services.

  • Yes, as a CCBHC, we offer community-based mental health care for veterans. 

Addiction Recovery Services
  • We offer outpatient services for substance use disorders, including evaluations, individual and family counseling, group therapy, and Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT).

  • MAT is a program that combines counseling and behavioral therapies with medication to provide a holistic approach to treating substance use disorders, particularly opioid and alcohol use.

  • BHSN’s Centers for Recovery offer a full continuum of addiction services in one location, making it easy for individuals to access everything they need to support their recovery journey.

Children and Family Services
  • CFTSS is a range of service designed for children and youth under 21 with a mental health or substance use diagnosis. The services are delivered in the community to help them thrive at home and in school.

  • Adventure Based Counseling is a therapeutic program that uses group activities and experiences to help at-risk youth, and their families develop skills and resilience. This is available at our Morrisonville clinic.

  • HCBS are services designed for children, youth, and adults to help them thrive in their own homes and communities. This program works to prevent out-of-home or institutional placement.

  • This is our program that supports parents and caregivers, strengthening their skills to better assist their child with mental health needs. Our online and in-person groups include Behavioral Support Techniques, Caregiver Support, and Active Parenting.

  • Therapeutic Foster Care provides intensive, individualized foster care services for children and youth who require a high level of support. 

  • Therapeutic Foster Care provides a higher level of care for children with complex emotional or behavioral needs. Foster parents receive specialized training and support from BHSN to provide the best environment possible.

Support Services
  • BHSN offers a variety of support services that include Home Visitation, Support Employment, Employee Assistance Services, Respite Services, Therapeutic Foster Care, Behavioral Supports, and our STOP Domestic Violence program.

  • Our Home Visitation program provides support and resources to pregnant parents and parents of young children. Trained professionals visit families in their homes, following the Healthy Families America model, to ensure a healthy start for every child.

  • This is a certified program that provides services to victims of domestic violence and works to educate the community to create safer environments, with a 24-hour hotline available.

  • Respite services provide short-term, temporary care for families who need a break from caring for a child with a mental health diagnosis. The goal is to increase family wellness and prevent crises.

  • Respite services provide short-term, temporary care for families who are caring for a child with a mental health diagnosis, offering them a much-needed break and support. 

  • Our Supported Employment programs are designed to help individuals with disabilities find and maintain meaningful employment. We provide job coaching, assistance with job searches, and ongoing support to help them succeed in the workforce.

  • EAS is a program offered to assist employees, and their employers, that may have some personal struggles keeping them from being their best at work. This can include counseling, referral services, and crisis support.

Care Management
  • Our care management services are designed to help our clients navigate today’s complex healthcare system. We provide a proactive, integrated approach to improve health outcomes and quality of life by coordinating services and building a supportive team around our clients. This is available at our Morrisonville location.

  • Children’s Care Management works with youth aged 5 to 21 with a qualifying mental health diagnosis or chronic condition. This program is offered in both our Morrisonville and Queensbury clinics. Adult Care Management, meanwhile, helps individuals manage chronic health conditions and access a full range of physical and behavioral health services. This is only offered in our Morrisonville clinic.

  • If you forget your password, visit the portal log in screen and select the link to assist you with your password reset. If your access is locked and you cannot reset your password, please contact our Customer Experience Team for assistance at 518-563-8000 for Morrisonville or 518-926-7100 for Queensbury.

  • You can contact us any time to find out if you or your child is eligible to enroll. You can complete a self-referral, or you can be referred by a doctor, social service staff, or a managed care plan.

Residential Services
  • Our Morrisonville location offers a continuum of residential services, including community residences and supportive housing, for individuals recovering from mental illness and/or chemical dependency.

  • You do not need a referral to begin services. You can contact us directly to schedule an intake.

  • We schedule the intake as a comprehensive session to save you time and provide a thorough start to your care. You will receive three appointments that are scheduled back-to-back and will last approximately two hours long. This allows our integrated team to collect all necessary information (clinical, medical, and administrative) in one visit, ensuring you are immediately connected to the right services without delay.

  • Please have your insurance information, a list of any current medications, and any relevant contact information for your primary care doctor. 

  • As a CCBHC, we are committed to providing care as soon as possible. Wait times for new appointments vary, but we strive to get you in as soon as possible.

  • As a CCBHC, we serve everyone who needs care, regardless of their ability to pay. We offer a sliding fee scale and can assist you in finding coverage.

  • If you are experiencing a crisis, you can call our Crisis Helpline at 1.866.577.3836 or call 988.

  • To ensure you never run out, please plan ahead and initiate the refill process 5-7 days before your medication is due to finish. To request a refill, call our office main line at your respective locations and select the option for the refill line. A nurse will then process your request. The standard processing time is 5-7 business days. This timeline ensures your prescription is safely reviewed and processed by our clinical team and pharmacy. 

  • We understand that when you’re ready to start, each day counts. Because we are committed to providing integrated, person-centered care, we utilize the initial time to fully assess and understand your specific needs as we gather information. We strive to accommodate every client as quickly as possible. When you call, our team will gather essential details to prioritize your needs and connect you to the appropriate resources, allowing us to schedule your comprehensive intake session as soon as possible.

APPOINTMENTS AND CARE

  • You can schedule or change an appointment by calling the number of your specific clinic location. Our team will be happy to assist you directly. Another option is to request or manage appointments securely through myHealthPointe, our personal healthcare portal. This provides you 24/7 secure access to select portions of your personal health record and is the central place to view, download, and request changes to your personal care. 

  • Yes, we offer telehealth services for many of our programs, allowing you to connect with your provider from the convenience of your own home. 

  • This means we provide a full range of services, from intensive care to outpatient support, allowing your treatment plan to evolve with your needs over time.

  • Yes, all services are provided in a confidential manner in compliance with HIPAA regulations. 

  • We take all feedback seriously. You can contact our customer service department through our main line, and you will be directed to the appropriate department.

  • Our patient portal is a secure online platform where you can access your health records, message your provider, and manage appointments.

BILLING & INSURANCE

  • We accept major insurance plans, including Carelon, Highmarks BCBS, Capital District Physicians Health Plan CDPHP, Empire BC/BS, Excellus, FIDELIS, Medicare Part B, MVP, New York State Medicaid, United Healthcare, among others. Please call our finance and billing department at 518.563.8000 if you don’t see your plan listed.

  • Yes, we accept both Medicaid and Medicare.

  • A co-pay is a fixed amount you pay for a covered healthcare service. Your co-pay is determined by your insurance plan and is due at the time of service.

  • You will receive a bill for services rendered that are not covered by your insurance or are subject to co-pay. Bills can be sent via mail or through your patient portal.

  • Please contact your billing department at 518.563.8000 for any questions regarding your bill. 

  • Yes, we have a sliding fee scale and other financial assistance programs to help those who are uninsured or underinsured.
