For over 150 years, Behavioral Health Services North (BHSN) has been guided by a simple, powerful truth: human connection heals. From our origins in 1874 as a community shelter in Plattsburgh to our standing today as a regional leader in mental and behavioral health, our mission remains unchanged, honoring the dignity, potential, and resilience of every person we serve.

As we look back on our 2025 Impact Report, we see far more than numbers. We see thousands of individual journeys toward recovery, stability, and hope.

Here are the key milestones and top highlights of how BHSN served our community in 2025.

2025 at a Glance: Extraordinary Reach and Growth

Through our dedicated team of 606 employees, BHSN expanded community access to vital behavioral health services across Clinton, Essex, Warren, Washington, and surrounding New York countries.

Key Performance Highlights:

  • 13,692 Total Beneficiaries Reached: Individuals and family members directly impacted by our healthcare, residential, and social support services.

  • 367,961 Total Services Provided: Comprehensive clinical, vocational, residential, and crisis interventions delivered throughout 2025.

  • 312% Increase in Individuals Served: Extraordinary long-term growth achieved since earning our federal Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) designation.

  • 30% Year –over-Year Impact Growth: Expansion in individuals served between 2023 and 2024 carrying momentum through 2025.

Defining High-Quality Integrated Care: The CCBHC Advantage

BHSN is honored to be 1 of only 25 organizations in New York State selected for the federal CCBHC model.

The CCBHC model eliminates traditional healthcare silos by integrating mental health treatment, addiction recovery, medical care coordination, and protective support services under one umbrella. Regardless of an individual's financial circumstances or ability to pay, CCBHC status ensures open-door access to top-tier care.

Looking Ahead Together

As President & CEO Katherine Cook shared in her annual message, "Meaningful progress begins with listening." Our achievements in 2025 were made possible by listening to the individuals and families we serve, strengthening our systems, and leaning into our core values of Integrity and Connection.

To our compassionate staff, generous donors, visionary community partners, and the courageous individuals who trust us with their care, THANK YOU. Together, we are building a healthier, more resilient North Country and Capital Region.
