Helping Hands Housing is dedicated to helping individuals recovering from mental illness and their families secure and maintain safe, affordable, and permanent housing of their choice within Clinton County. We believe in your ability to live independently and are here to provide the extra layer of support and advocacy needed to help you stay settled and secure in your own home.

Program Overview
This program assists persons recovering from mental illness and their families to secure and maintain safe and affordable permanent housing of their choosing within Clinton County. Recipients have the basic skills necessary for independent living, including the ability to self-administer and manage medications. Staff offer support services when they meet with individuals at least once a month and provide quarterly home visits. The goal is to assist the recipient in maintaining affordable, safe, quality permanent housing.

Choice in housing: Individuals live in their own apartments throughout Clinton County.
Ongoing support: Staff provide regular check-ins, help with housing concerns, and support with landlord communication.
Financial assistance: Eligible participants may receive help with rent, security deposits, or basic household items.
Long-term stability: The focus is on helping people stay housed and avoid future housing crises.

Ages Served
Individuals 18 years old and up.
Eligibility
Individuals with a Serious Mental Illness (SMI) diagnosis as defined by OMH (Office of Mental Health).
Insurance & Payment
Payment is made through the Clinton Co Dept of Social Services directly to BHSN. Medicaid is NOT required.
